      Hi Michelle,

I am not an expert on Shark vacuums. I do have a NV680 though. It is a great vacuum. I believe they are being discontinued though as they are getting harder to find.

      NV680
Is smaller and lighter (13.8 pounds total weight–about 6 pounds in Lift Away mode)
      Small dust bin
Main brush roll has power in “Lift-Away” mode (good for vacuuming under furniture)
      Believe it is quieter

I have a smaller house and love my NV680. It sucks up a ton of dirt. It does have small 10.5″ cleaning head though which might not be good for large open rooms, but it works well in my smaller house as it goes under and around furniture. Amazon sells them both new and refurbished. Refurbished ones go for around $150, and a two year extended warranty is about $15 for a refurbished model. I would get an extra set of the foam filters for it though as they get dirty fast (filters can be rinsed out with water a small amount of dish soap but must dry completely before using the vacuum).

I NEED TO KNOW!! The NV680 was rated by Consumer Reports as one of the QUIETEST vacuums available. All the others, mostly MEINEL’s, cost $500.00 to $1200.00! Is the NV681 as quiet???? Very important for me.
