Compare iRobot Roomba 880 vs 870 what’s the difference?


These 2 belong to iRobot Roomba 800 series, they are very similar models.
The difference between Roomba 880 and 870 are as follows.

  • The Roomba 880 comes with 2 Virtual Wall Lighthouses while the 870 comes with 2 Virtual Walls, and the 870 is NOT compatible with the Lighthouse.
    The Virtual Wall Lighthouse has 2 modes including Virtual Wall mode and Lighthouse mode. The virtual wall mode stops the Roomba from entering off-limits areas while the Lighthouse mode helps navigate the Roomba vacuum from room to room, it firstly contains the Roomba in one room before that room is cleaned, and then guide it to vacuum the next room.
  • The Roomba 880 also comes with a Remote Control while the 870 does NOT include.
    The Remote Control allows users to control Roomba without touching it, such as turn on/off the Roomba and steer it around.
