iRobot Roomba 880 vs 650 what’s the difference?

Cleaning System
The cleaning system they employ is the biggest difference between them.
The 880 employs new cleaning system which they call it AeroForce Performance Cleaning System that has the new airflow accelerator and high efficiency vacuum, irobot claim that this new cleaning system is more powerful, has better ability of vacuuming up dirt, dust, hair and debris.
Furthermore, it requires less maintenance because of its brushless extractors. Unlike the 650 which uses 1 bristle brush and 1 rubber brush to grab dirt and debris, the 880 uses dual counter-rotating brushless extractors that has less tangle problem.

Battery Type
The 650 comes an Advanced Power System (APS) 3000 mAh NiMH Battery while the 880 comes with the new iRobot XLife Extended Life Battery which doubles the time before a replacement may be necessary.

Home Base
The 650 comes with the regular battery Charger and Home Base (110V) while the 880 comes with the Integrated Home Base (100-240V/50HZ-60HZ), the 880 has no charger anymore, only the Home base.

Virtual Wall vs Virtual Wall Lighthouse
The 650 is only compatible with the Virtual Wall that can stop the robot from entering off-limit areas while the 880 also supports the Lighthouse technology that can guide the robot to clean from room to room, it contains the robot in one room until the room is cleaned, then direct it to another room.

Remote Control
The 880 comes with a Remote Control(batteries included) that allows you to remote access to Roomba commands without getting up while the 650 does not come with the remote control.

Cost
The Roomba 880 is $300 more expensive than the Roomba 650.
The 880 is priced at $699.99 at irobot.com whereas the Roomba 650 is price at $399.99.

Filtration
The Roomba 880 uses a HEPA filter while the 650 employs AeroVac Filter.

Bin
The 650 uses AeroVac Bin while the 880 uses a HEPA-filtered bin that is larger.

Full Bin Indicator
The 880 features Full Bin Indicator whereas the 650 has no such indicator.

Dirt Detect Technology and Persistent Pass Cleaning
The 650 employs Dirt Detect Series 1 which uses only acoustic to find dirtier areas.
Whereas the 880 features Dirt Detect Series 2 which uses both acoustic and optical sensors.
The 880 also features Persistent Pass Cleaning that the 650 does not have.
The Persistent Pass Cleaning uses a back-and-forth cleaning pattern to spend more time cleaning the areas that it finds more dirt with the Dirt Detect technology.

Size
The 650 has a diameter of 13.39″ while the 880 has a larger diameter which is 13.9″.

Weight
The 650 is lighter, it weighs 7.9 pounds while the 880 weighs 8.4 pounds.

Accessories
The 650 comes with 1 Auto Virtual Wall(requires 2 C batteries, not included) while the 880 includes 2 Virtual Wall Lighthouses (batteries included).
The 650 comes with 1 Extra AeroVac Filter while the 880 comes with 1 Extra HEPA Filter.
The 650 comes with 1 flat brush cleaning tool while the 880 has no brush cleaning tool.
