Type of Battery:
The major difference between CHV1410 and CHV1410L is the type of battery they come with. CHV1410 comes with the nickel-cadmium battery while the CHV1410L uses the Lithium-ion battery. The Nickel-Cadmium battery has two big drawbacks. First, it has the “memory effect” problem (more info en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_effect); second, it is toxic, not environment friendly. The lithium-ion battery does not have these problems, and it charges faster than the ni-cd battery. But the lithium-ion battery cost more.

Price:
Since the cost of lithium-ion battery is more than the ni-cd battery, the CHV1410L is more expensive. The MSRP of the CHV1410L is $80, while it is only $40 for the CHV1410.

Air Watts: (what is air watt – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airwatt)
At blackanddecker.com, you can find the air watt ratings of these 2 vacuum. The CHV1410 has a cleaning power of 24 air watts while the CHV1410L has 23 air watts.

Wall Mount:
The CHV1410 has a wall mount while the CHV1410L doesn’t include. But the wall mount is just for mounting the vac on a wall, it is not a charger.

Based on user reviews, these 2 vacuums performs almost the same. Though the CHV1410L costs more, it is still a better option due to the advantage of its lithium-ion battery on the long run.
