DC17 is easier to get cloged, since its holes around the cylinder is a bit small, whereas DC25 has bigger holes.

DC31 Animal comes with a motorized brush bar that has bristles for removing animal hair and dirt from carpets whereas DC31 doesn’t.

So, DC31 Animal does a better job picking up pet hair from carpets, fabric chairs, furniture cushions, etc. If you need a hand vac for vacuuming cat and dog hair, then DC31 Animal is a better choice.

2, Cord Length
DC33 has a much longer cord.
The cord length of DC33 is 35 feet while DC24 has a short 20 foot cord. A short cord means you have to move the cord several times, and plug it in different outlets.

3, Bin Capacity
DC33 has a much larger bin.
The bin capacity of DC33 is 0.61 gallons while it is only 0.19 gallon on DC24. A small bin means you have to empty it frequently, this is an annoying thing. For large area cleaning, DC33 is better.

4, Weight
DC24 is much lighter.
