Compare Botvac D Series vs XV Series what’s the difference?

We all know that the Neato XV series is an older series while the Botvac D series is the new one. But are there any improvements?

Let’s look at the key difference between Botvac D series and XV sereis below.

Main Brush Design
The Botvac D series use a new brush – the Spiral Blade Brush, it is longer, 10.9 inch versus 9.4 inch on the XV series. It is also easier to install and remove.

Side Brush
The Botvac D is equipped with a side brush for edge cleaning while the XV is lack of side brush.

Dust Bin Size
The Botvac D has a 0.7L dust bin whereas the XV has a 0.6L bin.

Filter
The Botvac D filter is wider.
They both have two types of filters: High Performance Filter and Standard Filter.
The Botvac D use 7-3/8″/18.7cm wide High Performance Filter and 7-1/2″/19.1cm wide Standard Filter while the filters on the XV is 4″/10.2cm and 4-1/4″/10.8cm wide.

Control Interface
BotVac D use a touch style Home button and has a Spot cleaning button near the bottom whereas the XV series use a traditional Start button near the LCD display that is located at the top right.

Battery
The BotVac D is powered by one rechargeable NiMH (1 x 12V 3600mAh) battery whereas the XV battery pack includes a set of 2 rechargeable NiMH (2 x 7.2V 3200mAh) batteries that are placed in 2 compartments.

Cleaning Tool
The Botvac D now come with Brush & Filter Cleaning Tool while the XV does not include.

Color Scheme
The Botvac D have different colors on the top and bottom whereas the XV use the same color on both parts.

Some other difference:
The BotVac D is a bit bulkier, and it weighs heavier.
The Botvac D has better build quality than the XV.

Other than the above points, they are similar to each other, such as the D shape, LaserSmart Mapping & Navigation, clean from room to room, auto docking and recharging, resume cleaning, schedule cleaning, and boundary marker.

Neato just released a new product line on May 27, 2015 – the Botvac D Series robotic vacuum cleaner. Thus, Neato now have 3 families of robot vacuums – the Neato XV Series, the Botvac Series, and the Botvac D Series.
The new Botvac D Series includes 3 models – the Botvac D75, D80, and D85.
They are very similar items, the only difference between these Botvac D series models are the color scheme, included accessories, and the price.

** Both the D80 and D85 have the same color scheme, they have a black top while the D75 has a white top. This is what differs D75 from D80/D85 on the appearance.
** The D80 uses a High Performance Filter, comes with a Spiral Blade Brush and a Combo Brush, the D85 includes all the accessories that the D80 has and also comes with Extra 2 x High Performance Filters, while the D75 uses a Standard Filter, and it only comes with the Spiral Blade Brush, but has no Combo Brush. According to the Neato, the combo brush that is designed specifically for picking up pet hair, and works quieter on hard floors like wood and tile.
** The MSRP of D75, D80, D85 are $499, $549, and $599.

Neato Combo vs Blade Brush what’s the difference?

The Neato Combo Brush is a combination of rubber blades and bristles whereas the Blade Brush only use rubber blades.

The combination brush has 2 advantages over the blade brush.
The first one is that it significantly cuts down the blade noise while the brush is rotating and hitting the floors. You will feel the difference if you try the combo brush, the robot gets a lot quieter.
The second one is the ability of picking up pet hair. The combo brush improves the performance on picking up pet hair. So, if you have dogs and cats at home, the combo brush is a great upgrade from the blade brush, definitely a must have.

The iRobot Roomba 880 is the latest Roomba model whereas the Neato BotVac series is the latest Neato robotic vacuum cleaner.
Below we will discuss some similarities and difference between iRobot Roomba 880 and Neato BotVac 80, 85.

Mapping and Navigation Method
The Neato wins on the mapping and navigation system. It cleans with a methodical way instead of bumping around randomly and aimlessly as the Roomba does.
The Roomba may clean the same spots too many times wasting time and battery energy, this makes it less efficient and clean slower than the Neato.
And the Roomba bumps onto things more often due to the random cleaning patten.

Room to Room Cleaning
The Neato cleans room to room automatically whereas the Roomba needs the Virtual Wall Lighthouse to help navigating it to clean more efficiently, and it only cleans each room for max 25 minutes. For cleaning a large room, 25 minutes may be not enough.

Resume Cleaning
The Roomba 880 cannot resume its cleaning process after recharging.
Whereas the Neato BotVac 85, 80 can restart cleaning where it left off after the recharging has been done.

Height
The Roomba 880 is a bit shorter than the Neato BotVac to go under some furniture that the Neato cannot.

The Roomba 880 uses 2 brushless rubber extractors to grab dirt from floors whereas the Neato BotVac employs 1 beater brush. P.S.
According to user reviews, the Roomba 880 does better on medium pile carpets. However, it leave random marks.
The Neato picks up pet hair from floors better.
