Ad:
  • AI Laser Vision
The Shark AI robot is a newer series, it features Shark’s most advanced vision module – AI Laser Vision which makes Shark’s IQ Navigation smarter, it helps the robot detect and avoid objects. The better thing is that it supports virtual no-go zones. It can respond to the no-go zones you set up in the app. Meanwhile, the AI robots can still recognize the physical BotBoundary strip.
To keep the IQ robots from certain spots, you need to use the physical boundary strip, they does not support virtual boundary.
The AI Laser Vision also enables the AI robot to run properly in low light conditions because the AI Laser Vision is not dependent on ambient lighting.
Whereas the IQ robots will not navigate correctly in the dark, it cleans but it will not move in a row by row pattern. Because it needs light to know where it’s going. For better cleaning performance and coverage, it is recommended to turn on the lights when running the IQ robots at night or in low light conditions.
    P. S.
The AI robot will only avoid objects taller than 2.8 inches. Anything lower than this height will not be recognized.

  • Sonic Mopping
The AI robot includes a vacmop version, including Vacmop RV2000WD and Vacmop Pro RV2001WD, which features sonic mopping that scrubs 100 times per minute. With the mopping module, the robot can vacuum and mop hard floors at the same time. The mopping kit includes a fluid reservoir and a mopping pad. The Vacmop packages also come with a trial size bottle of solution.
Whereas all the IQ robots are not compatible with the mopping kits.
  • Self Empty
Though the AI robot is the newer series, it does not support the Self Empty Base which the IQ Self Empty series features. The IQ Self Empty robots come with a self empty base that holds dirt and debris up to 30 days of cleaning. The robot equipped with an Empty & Resume feature that allows the robot to return to its base after 30 minutes of cleaning to empty its dust bin, then resume its cleaning session. This feature can be disabled in the app. Shark recommends to turn this on for high traffic areas and homes with pets.

  • There are also some less important difference, such as the dust cup capacity, dimensions, and weight.

What’s new on these Shark AI robots?
The Shark AI robots adds the new AI Laser Vision which claimed to be Shark’s most advanced vision module. It enables the robot to detect and avoid obstacles, and respond to no-go zone you set up in the app. Unlike the previous robot versions, it does not require the physical boundary strip to keep the robot out of certain areas. The Vacmop models also feature sonic mopping which scrubs hard floors 100 times per minute. You can not schedule the vacmop robot to dry vacuum first then wet mop. It vacuums and mops simultaneously when the fluid reservoir and mop pad attached. To vacuum only, the fluid reservoir must NOT be attached to the robot. And it does not mop only.
And according to Shark, the AI Laser Vision is not dependent on ambient lighting and can navigate your home at night or in low lighting conditions. Previous series robots needs light to know where they are going, if clean in dark areas, they cannot clean properly in a row by row way.

Some questions and answers:

  • Do they clean randomly or methodically?
They clean row by row methodically.
  • Do these Shark AI robots have the self empty feature like the IQ self empty robot?
No. The Shark AI robots is not compatible with the self empty base.
  • Can you use it to clean a multiple story house?
It can only map one floor. You would need to manually move it to another floor. When the Robot is low in battery, you would need to manually put the Robot on the charging dock to recharge.
  • Do they return to charge automatically and resume cleaning?
Yes. As long as you use them on one level, and follow the user guide, these things should be done automatically.
  • Do they include boundary strip so that you can stop them from entering no go zone?
No. These AI robots now support virtual no go zone, so they do not need the boundary strip anymore.
  • Do they work without internet connection?
Yes. But any features that require Wi-Fi will not work.
  • How tall are these vacuum robots?
    They are 3.48-inch in height.
  • With the AI robot vacmop, can you set it to vacuum only?
It will not mop hard floors unless you attach the fluid reservoir.

Difference Between Shark IQ Robot Vacuum Cleaner Models

If you are in the market for a Shark IQ robot vacuum cleaner, you may see similar names and model numbers like these:
R100, R101, R100AE, R101AE, RV1000, RV1001AE, R101AE, UR1005AE, etc.
Get confused by them?
Read the comparison of these Shark IQ robotic vacuums below, it may help you learn some difference between them and make an informed purchase.

Shark R100 vs R101AE / IQ vs IQ XL what’s the difference?

images from Shark infomercials

The main difference between the Shark IQ Robot XL Vacuum R101AE and Shark IQ R100 is the R101AE has the self empty feature. The R101AE includes a self empty base which allows the robot to empty the dust and debris when it returns to the base. According to Shark, this bagless base can hold up to 30 full bins of dust and debris before being emptied. While the R100 comes with a standard charging base. It is not compatible with the Self Empty Base. The robot needs to be manually emptied when bin is full.
And at this moment, Shark does not offer the Self Empty Base separately. If you want it, you have to buy the bundle that includes it.
Another difference is the dust bin capacity. The bin on R100 holds up to 0.6 quarts while the R101AE has a much smaller dust bin which holds up to 0.2 quarts. However, since the R101AE features self empty base, the smaller bin does not matter.
There are also exclusive models R100W and R101AEW on Shark official site. According to Shark support, the R100W is the same as the R100, and R101AEW is the same as R101AE.
The only difference is the exclusive models on Shark official site carry 1-year VIP warranty. The VIP service means that if your robot vacuum fails for any reason:
You ship it to them FREE.
They fix it FREE or replace it FREE.
They send it back to you FREE.

R100 vs RV1000 vs RV1000C vs RV1001 what’s the difference?
R100 is the name, RV1000, RV1000C and RV1001 are the model numbers.
The difference between these models is where sold and what accessories are included. The robots are the same.

R101AE vs RV1001AE vs UR1005AE vs RV1001AEC vs RV1001AEQ, what’s the difference?
The R101AE is the name, the RV1001AE, UR1005AE, RV1001AEC and RV1001AEQ are the model numbers.
Just like the R100, the difference between these models is where sold and what accessories are included, some may come with extra filter, some may include extra side brushes, etc. The robots are the same.

Simple info on the attachments:

  • The Standard Wand cannot bend whereas the MultiFLEX Wand can flex down to easily get under bed, chair, table and other furniture, or flex over to stand upright by its own for storage. If you already have the IZ162H or IZ162HC, you can also buy the flexible wand to replace the standard wand with no need to purchase a new vacuum cleaner.
