Shark NV801,NV803 vs NV831,NV835 what’s the difference?

The major difference between the Shark DuoClean Powered Lift Away NV830 series and DuoClean Powered Lift Away Speed NV800 series is the size. The NV830 series are full size whereas the NV800 series are compact size. The full size has larger dust cup which holds up to 1.5 dry quarts versus 0.9 dry quarts on the compact size. And the full size has wider cleaning path and are over 2 pounds heavier.

Other differences between them are the headlights and power switch location.

Led lights
The NV830 series have lights on the nozzle and handle, the lights on the handle are useful when vacuuming weak light spots with the attachments for above floor cleaning.

Power Control Location
The DuoClean Speed has the power control on the top of the lift away canister while the DuoClean has the power switch on the handle for finger tip control.

Otherwise, they are similar. Both of them feature powered lift away, DuoClean technology – a bristle brushroll to clean carpets, and a soft brushroll to pull in larger particles and directly engage floors, swivel steering, Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology, HEPA filter, 1150 watts and 9.5 amperage.

Shark NV831,NV835 vs NV501 what’s the difference?

These two Shark upright vacuum models have similar things – detachable canister for portable cleaning, anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology with HEPA filter, swivel nozzle, headlights. However, there are also some obvious differences.

Nv831,nv835 are newer models, belong to the DuoClean powered lift away series NV501 belongs to the Rotator lift away series.

The biggest difference between the DuoClean and Rotator is the brush bar design, the DuoClean has dual brush system – one bristle brush and one soft roller. While the Rotator has only one bristle brush.

Another big difference is that the DuoClean has Powered Lift Away function while the Rotator NV500 only has Lift Away mode. With Powered lift away, you can use the Powered tools such as motorized brush. Whereas the lift away feature only allows using air driven attachments.

Other difference between them:

Control Button Location.
The DuoClean NV831,NV835 has the Power Button on the handle whereas the Rotato has the power control on the top of the lift away canister.
And the DuoClean has the surface selector on the handle for fingertip control while the Rotator has the Brushroll on/off button on the top of the lift away pod, so you may have to bend down to turn on/off brushroll when switching between floors.

Floor Cleaning Modes
The DuoClean has 3 surface settings – Hard floor, Carpet&Low Pile, Thick Carpet&Area Rug, the brushrolls are always spinning no matter which setting you select, but the speed varies.
While the Rotator has a BRUSHROLL button that you can use to turn on or off the brushroll to meet different cleaning needs.

Suction Control
The Rotator has a suction control collar on the handle that allows you to release suction when you need weak suction to clean delicate things. While the DuoClean has no similar control.

Led lights on handle
The DuoClean has LED lights on the handle and nozzle whereas the Rotator has lights on the nozzle only.

Power Specifications
The DuoClean power specifications are 120v,60hz,1150w,9.5a versus 120v,60hz,1200w,10a on the Rotator.

Warranty
The DuoClean is backed by a 7 year limited warranty rather than 5 year warranty on the Rotator.

Weight
The DuoClean is a bit heavier than the Rotator.

Dimensions
The dimensions of DuoClean are 47.2″ x 12.20″ x 10.6″ versus 45.7″ x 13.4″ x 12.2″ on the Rotator.

Brushrolls
This is the biggest difference between these 2 models. The APEX DuoClean Equipped with DuoClean Technology – it is a 2 brush system which has a bristle brush to clean carpets, and an additionally soft brushroll to clean hard floors. While the Rotator has only the bristle brushroll.
The brushrolls on the APEX DuoClean will always spin when cleaning carpets as well as hard floors, there is no brush off setting. While the Rotator brushroll will stop spin when you set to Hard Floor cleaning mode.

Power
As for the power specs, the Apex DuoClean is more powerful, it has 11.3 amps and 1350 watts versus 9.5 amps and 1150 watts on the Rotator.

Noise Reduction Technology
The APEX DuoClean features Noise Reduction Technology which help reduce noise level – “expertly tuned to reduce noise and soften pitch”. While the Rotator does not feature.

Active Glide Technology

Size
The Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away is full size while the DuoClean Speed is compact size.
What makes the full size bulkier is mainly because of the bigger lift away pod and the wider cleaning path width. The Rotator has a dust container holds up to 1.5 dry quarts while the DuoClean Speed has a dust cup capacity of 0.9 dry quarts. The Rotator cleaning path width is 10.5 inches versus 8.5 inches on the DuoClean Speed. The Rotator weighs about 16.7 lbs while the DuoClean Spead weighs 14.5 lbs.

Brushrolls
The DuoClean Speed has 2 brusrolls – a bristle brush to clean carpets, and a soft brushroll to pull in particles and clean hard floors. While the Rotator has only bristle brushroll. When cleaning any blockage, the brushrolls on the DuoClean Speed can be removed while the Rotator brushroll is not removable.

Hard Floor Cleaning Mode
Both of them have 3 preset cleaning modes – Thick Carpet/Area Rug, Carpet/Low Pile, Hard Floor. When setting to Hard Floor mode, the DuoClean Speed brushrolls still spins slowly while the Rotator brushroll does not spin. That means the DuoClean Spead does not allow you use suction only while using the powered nozzle.

LED lights
The DuoClean Speed has lights on the nozzle while the Rotator has lights on nozzle and handle, the LED lights on handle is helpful when cleaning with the accessories for above floor cleaning, especially cleaning those dark spots.

Power Button Location
The DuoClean Speed has the power switch on the vacuum pod while the Rotator has the power button on the handle.

Both of these two series vacuum cleaners have detachable vacuum pod for portable cleaning, features swivel steering, Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology and a HEPA filter to trap dust and allergens inside the vacuum.
